Description Epithalon (also known as Epitalon, Epithalone, or the AEDG peptide) is a synthetic tetrapeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. The peptide was developed by the Khavinson group at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology in Russia as a synthetic analog of the active fragment of epithalamin, a pineal gland polypeptide extract characterized in the 1970s. Epithalon belongs to a class of compounds collectively known as “Khavinson bioregulators” — short peptides derived from organ extracts and proposed to function through tissue-specific gene expression modulation. The compound has been investigated extensively in the Russian academic literature (Khavinson, Anisimov, and colleagues; Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine) for telomerase enzyme expression, telomere length dynamics, pineal gland function, circadian rhythm regulation, and cellular senescence pathways in preclinical research models. Epithalon is studied as one of the most extensively published short-peptide bioregulators in geroscience research. Benefits (Research Focus) • Telomerase pathway research — studied for hTERT gene expression and telomerase enzyme activity in cell culture models • Telomere biology — investigated for telomere length dynamics in somatic cell and stem cell research • Pineal gland pharmacology — explored for pineal-derived peptide signaling and downstream melatonin pathway research • Circadian rhythm research — examined for circadian gene expression and chronobiology endpoints • Cellular senescence pathways — researched for senescence-associated gene expression in geroscience models What Researchers Look At • Telomerase (hTERT) expression and enzymatic activity in fibroblast and stem cell models • Telomere length measurements via qPCR, Southern blot, or flow-FISH in cell culture research • Circadian gene expression (BMAL1, CLOCK, PER, CRY) and melatonin secretion patterns • Comparative pharmacology versus other Khavinson short-peptide bioregulators • Oxidative stress markers and antioxidant gene expression in aged cell models Quick Specs • Form: Lyophilized white powder • Net Peptide Content: 10 mg per vial • Quantity: 1 vial • Appearance: White to off-white lyophilizate • Reconstitution: Bacteriostatic or sterile water (added by the end researcher) • Purity: ≥99% by HPLC • Identity: MS-verified (per COA) • Storage: Protect from light Identity Basics • Compound: Epithalon (AEDG) • Synonyms: Epitalon; Epithalone; AEDG peptide; Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly • Class: Synthetic tetrapeptide; Khavinson bioregulator; epithalamin-derived analog • Sequence: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG) — 4 amino acids • Origin: Khavinson group, St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology (Russia) • Formula / M.W.: C14H22N4O9, ~390.35 g/mol • CAS: 307297-39-8 ⚠️ Disclaimer This product is intended for laboratory research use only.
