After a career in the sports retail sector, Paul was getting frustrated at the long hours, high mileage lifestyle his work was giving him, and wanted to work for himself. After studying the franchise sector of business, Paul decided that he wanted a business that dealt in repeat order, consumable products; he also was determined that he wanted a market sector that is virtually recession proof. After visiting Chemex’s distribution depot and office complex twice, Paul visited and spoke with neighbouring franchisees. Having investigated thoroughly, the decision was made. Says Paul about this part of joining the Chemex franchise: “Chemex came across as a really professional set-up. They helped me along the way, without ever putting me under pressure. As they said, it was a big decision I was looking to make, and they helped me through every step of the process”. Paul also found that Chemex have a very good working relationship with all the major banks, so when he couldn’t get an appointment quickly enough, one phone from them in the right direction produced results! Paul started out with Chemex in mid November 2004. There were two new starters on the eight day residential induction course. Paul says: “we had really individual attention from all the Chemex personnel. There was a lot of information and training to take in, but it was put across very professionally. Everybody at Chemex was so helpful …… and still is!” Paul has grown his business month on month every month since he started. As he puts it, “Chemex helped me write a business plan, with some realistic, achievable targets to attain to grow my business. I have achieved every target through the first year, putting me on course to achieve the net income I require”. Paul continues: “I still have lots of prospective customers to visit, so I’m not short of future potential -- and lets be fair, I’m reaping the rewards of my own efforts by being a self employed Chemex franchisee!” |
